Bùth-obrach Còcaireachd!

Sgilean Còcaireachd

Chaidh an dàrna bùth-obrach, ‘cothroman cleachdaidh’ le còcaireachd a chumail air Disathairne 16mh den Mhàirt, air a chuir air dòigh le Iomairt Ghàidhlig Iar Thuath Leòdhais.

Siubhal Alasdair MacLeòid (An Rubha) thairis a’ mhòinteach a-rithist gus biadh blasta ullachadh do mhuinntir An Taobh Siar agus blas na h-èisg air a’ chlàr-bidh an turas seo!

Thoisich e le appetizer  de pate rionnach agus aran corc, an uairsin bòbhla an duine de cullen skink, ‘s e bha blasta.  An uairsin am prìomh cùrsa far an deach sealltainn dhuinn reasabaidh airson iasg-manach, chunnaic is dh’ionnsaich sinn dòigh ùr airson diofar bhlasan a thoirt ri chèile.

Le iarrtais airson mìlsean a-measg an luchd-labhairt chrìochnaich e le eton mess a bha cheart cho millis sa bha e a’ coimhead!

‘B e madainn air leth soirbheachail a bh’ann, a thaobh an còcaireachd agus mar a chaidh Gàidhlig a chleachdadh le luchd-ionnsachaidh agus fileantaich ann an suidheachadh neo-fhoirmeil, cairdeil.  Seo an dàrna thuras bho chaidh plana Gàidhlig Shiaboist fhoillseachadh a tha bùth-obrach còcaireachd air a bhith ann le iarrtas bhon choimhearsnachd.

Cuimhnichaibh sùil a chumail air làrach-lìn Siabost – www.siabost.co.uk airson cothroman Gàidhlig eile sa sgìre.

Cookery Demonstration

On Saturday 16th March Iomairt Ghàidhlig Iar Thuath Leòdhais held the second ‘cothroman cleachdaidh’ cookery workshops in Shawbost.  With Alasdair Macleod (Point), making his way over the moor again to put his cookery skills into action and whip up a fish themed menu.

Starting off with an appetiser of mackerel pate on mini oatcakes, followed by a very tasty bowl of cullen skink, a new recipe was learned for many attending.  For the main course, Alasdair demonstrated a spicy coating for monkfish which was new to everyone and very easy to replicate at home.  Everybody loves a pudding! – and this was satisfied with an easy to make Eton mess recipe!

The morning was highly successful from the cookery side of things, also most importantly, with the Gaelic element as both learners and fluent speakers of all ages using and developing their fluency of Gaelic in a friendly, informal environment.

This is the second cookery demonstration delivered in the community since the launch of the Shawbost Gaelic language plan.

We will continue to work together to provide more opportunities like this which will be of interest to members of the community and will promote Gaelic in the area – remember to keep an eye on the Shawbost website www.siabost.co.uk for all the events in the area.
